Prepaid SIM Card for Europe and 140 Countries: Free Calls in Europe!

A new prepaid SIM card for Europe and over 140 countries with free incoming calls in over 90 countries including most of Europe!

The SmartFree SIM is the perfect travel companion for your next vacation or business trip abroad especially when going to Europe, Far East or the Middle East. When traveling in the Zone 1 and Zone 2 countries listed below, incoming calls, regardless of where they originate from, are free!  Calls from Zone 1 going back to the USA are only 39 cents (Euro) a minute. Now you can get free incoming calls wherever you travel in Europe, as well as Australia, Israel, Nigeria, Egypt, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and many other countries.

Features of the Prepaid Global Smart Free SIM card:
  • FREE incoming calls in over 90 countries including most of Europe
  • 10 Euros worth starter airtime credit included
  • Make and receive calls in over 140 countries
  • Works with all unlocked GSM phones
  • No roaming charges
  • No contract, no monthly bills
  • US Toll-Free number optional (with SmartForward account - call us for details)

The SmartFree SIM gives you one European phone number (or optional USA number) that your friends, family, and business contacts can reach you on one number no matter where you travel.  In Zone 1 and Zone 2 (listed below) incoming calls are free and calls back to the USA are only 39 cents (Euro) 59 cents (Euro) a minute respectively.  Additionally, with our SmartForward service, calls to your existing US number (home, office or cell) can be automatically forwarded to ring on your Smart Free number.

Do you have an unlocked GSM phone?

To use the SmartFree SIM you will need an unlocked phone with the correct band or frequencies for the area in which you will be traveling.  If you purchased your GSM phone from a carrier, it may be SIM-locked, so only SIMs from that specific carrier can be used in your phone.

When you purchase our SmartFree SIM, you will have a chance to purchase a Siemens Triband World Phone for only $99.99, a special promotional rate only available to customers that purchase this SIM.  If you're not sure if your current phone will work with this SIM card, please call us at 1-800-872-7626 or consider purchasing a global cell phone to use with your SIM card.

You may already have a Global SIM card and be wondering if this service is right for you.  If you only travel to the Zone 1 and 2 countries, then the SmartFree SIM could be your best choice.  Unfortunately, when traveling to other countries outside of Zone 1 and 2, the rates are much more expensive and there are no free incoming calls.  In this case we strongly recommend our Monaco Plus Global SIM.  Please click HERE for a complete description of this service.

Before the introduction of this exciting new product, the only way to get free incoming calls throughout Europe was to purchase a different phone or SIM for each country.  Because many of these services cannot be reloaded from the United States, many of our customers wound up only being able to use their purchase once.

Airtime Rates in various SmartFree Zones and Areas:

  • All rates are in Euros
  • For all Zones, there is a one time access fee of 0.25 Euro per call.
  • Balance recharge and inquiry is free
  • All SMS outgoing is 0.49 Euro and all incoming SMS are free.
  • All countries in Zone 1 and 2 have FREE incoming calls.
  • Calls debit from account balance at rates below.
  • European VAT and currency conversion fees are included in our reload price.
  • NOTE: f = fixed-line/landline only - m = mobile/wireless/cellular only.
If not indicated then it means the price is the same for both.
  • Note that Alaska (USA) is in Zone B, everywhere else in the USA is in zone A.

Note: Do you need a Smart Free SIM that works in the following countries?

Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Gibraltar, Guadeloupe, Hati, Indonesia (outside of Jakarta), Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Liberia, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, New Zealand, Oman, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, Taiwan.  If so then check the Smart Free Quattro SIM card

Prepaid Service With No Monthly Fee!

This SIM card is very popular because there is no monthly fee. Simply add airtime once every 9 months to keep your SIM active. The service comes with about 40 outgoing minutes on the SIM included in the starter pack. Additional minutes are added by purchasing reloads. Reloads are available in $99.89 increments.

The balance on your Smartfree SIM Card lasts for nine months from the last recharge or initial activation.  If airtime credit is not added during the 9th month any credit on the airtime will expire. If the SIM is not reloaded after 12 months, the SIM card will be de-activated and the number will be recycled.  To avoid this, and have the SIM card ready for your next trip, simply purchase a small reload or pass the SIM card on to a friend.

To purchase reloads for your SIM card please call our reload center at 1-703-620-0879 (or from your mobile at +1-703-620-0879) or at 1-800-872-7626 from within the US.

By purchasing one reload (or more) at $99.89 each now you will get approximately 2 hours of talk-time in Zone 1.

Purchasing Reloads:

To purchase reloads for your SIM, please call us from the U.S.A. at 1-800 872-7626 or from overseas on 1-703-222-7161.  Nights and weekends please call 1-703-620-0879.

Activating Your Phone:

Your phone will have a pre-assigned mobile number and will be ready to use straight out of the package, no activation is necessary. Simply insert the SIM in your phone, enter the pin number (if prompted), press send, and your SIM is ready to use.

Your phone number will start with country code 423 (Liechtenstein) or an optional USA number (area code 202 Washington, D.C.). Callers from the USA would dial: 011 423 and the rest of your number to reach you in over 80 countries around the world.  If you opt for a USA number then US callers will only need to dial 1 and the area code (202).  Purchasing our SmartForward service will allow you to receive calls made to your home, office or US cell phone at your SmartFree number worldwide.

Placing A Call Using Your Phone:

For making a call with your SmartFree SIM, you will dial a Plus (+) symbol, the country code, the number and then press "Send" or "Yes".

Instead of putting the phone to your ear immediately, wait about two seconds and the phone will ring back, alerting you to answer the phone.  Press the "Send" or "Yes" key and you will hear your call go through.

Just dial: + , country code, city code, the phone number (country code is 1 for US) and the "Send" or "Yes" key to reach any number.

Checking Your Balance:

It is important for you to frequently check your balance, so that you will know as far in advance is possible when you need to add more time.

For a free SIM Balance Check:

Dial 089 and then the Send or Yes key.
